In obedience to the Holy Spirit, The Baptist Tabernacle started in a little house on Middlebrook Street in Covington fifty years ago. Our Founding Pastor, Dr. R. Hudson Moody, along with sixteen others committed themselves to praying and building a Church that would honor God, encourage and train Christians, evangelize the community and help send missionaries into the world. God honored those prayers. The Church quickly began to grow and moved into the old Huson Hospital until God allowed us to purchase our present land, where on Easter Sunday 1967, we had our first service in the beautiful auditorium in which we currently meet.
For over five decades, God has used The Baptist Tabernacle to be a Lighthouse to help “Point Families to Christ.” The ministries of this great Church have been impacting people for half of a century. There have been many lives changed and souls saved, and we continue to be a place where the old-time religion is preached. And though it’s been more than fifty years, we still believe in the BLESSED HOPE, the BOOK and the BLOOD and there is no other way. We still preach from the King James Bible and the old hymns have not been forgotten.
